Pearl D. Wardlow
Dance Spectrum Teacher & Artistic Director
Pearl holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance with a Teaching of Dance Emphasis from the University of California at Irvine. In 1989, Pearl was selected to attend the California State Summer School for the Arts at Cal Arts in Valencia, CA and was honored by Governor George Dukmejian as a California Arts Scholar. Pearl's training began with Ann Hall and later Melinda Shaner in the Yucaipa area. She has studied with Paul Maure, Donald Mc Kayle, Bernard Johnson, Buddy Schwimmer, Christine Baltes, Evie Newman, and Brian Vernon. Pearl's performance Credits include Disneyland Parades and Shows as well as special events for KLOS radio station and the Harris' Corporation. She has danced the roles of Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, Odette in Swan Lake and Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker under the direction of Melinda Shaner and with staging by Paul Maure. In high school and community theater, Pearl has acted in roles such as M'Lynn in Steel Magnolias and Andy in Steppin' Out (Redlands Footlighters), Maggie in Brigadoon, Ensemble and Congress of Beauties in Show Boat (Redlands Bowl), Ensemble and Virtue in Anything Goes!, Ensemble (featured tap dancer) in The Wizard of Oz. She also holds a Certificate in Television Production from San Bernardino Valley College. Her love of children, dance, and teaching inspired her to open Dance Spectrum in October 1999. In 2007, Pearl was recognized by Assemblyman Paul Cook & the California Legislature for Excellence in Choreography for Yucaipa High School's production of West Side Story. Pearl's students have been accepted into some of the nation's most prestigious summer dance programs including American Ballet Theater, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The Joffrey Ballet, State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara, Inland Pacific Ballet, Tap Kids, Tap Sounds Underground, and the California State Summer School for the Arts. Former students have worked professionally in the entertainment industry and continue their dance and arts training at the college and university level. More importantly, Dance Spectrum students carry away a lifelong love and appreciation and understanding of dance, music, and the arts.
Lyrical/Contemporary & Jazz Teacher
Born and raised in Southern California, Carlos Renteria started his training at the age of 12 at his local Middle School where he first met his Ballet Teacher, David King. He then continued dancing at his local High School and at Riverside Ballet Arts. During his training, Carlos spent a summer training under The Rock School of Ballet Education in Philadelphia. Carlos continued his training at The University of North Carolina of the Arts in the modern program where he trained and performed in various styles including Merce Cunningham, Jose Limon, and Shen Wei. Since then, he has had the pleasure of dancing for Nickerson-Rossie Dance, Intersect Dance, in the role of Snow King in Inland Dance Theater's Nutcracker and teaching at various schools around the Inland Empire in Southern California.
Brett studied tap, jazz, and more at Dance Spectrum and has gone on to train with and perform with Sarah Reich's now defunct Tap Dance Company, Tap Con Sabor. She regularly attends major Tap Festivals including the Washington D.C. Tap Fest and the L.A Tap Fest where she has worked as an intern for Chloe Arnold. Having studied tap at summer intensives such as Tap Kids in New York, Slide in N.Y.C., and Tap Sounds Underground in L.A., Brett's rhythms and choreography are beloved by her students and we are so pleased to have her on our teaching staff.
Ballet & Pointe Teacher
Liz Kent Jagdeo was R.A.D. (Royal Academy of Dancing) trained in classical ballet at the Academy of Dance in Orange County, CA, under the direction of Merle Sepel. Merle was one of the few RAD certified judges and examiners in America. Liz passed her RAD examinations with the highest marks of honors and highly commended. For 5 years, Liz was attended the American Academy of Ballet Intensive Program in New York at Vassar College; where she worked with the top leaders in the dance industry. During the years, she performed and placed with the top score of “Gold with Distinction” at AAB’s Performance Awards. At a young age, Liz got her first job; after being selected for the San Francisco’s Ballet Company's production of the Nutcracker. When Liz was 16, she lived in Japan where she was hired to dance with Brian Loftus, and perform for his ballet company. At 18, Liz moved to England where she danced with the Royal Ballet. After a few years of dancing professionally, Liz took interest in other various dance styles. She was introduced to the world of competitive dance and dance competitions. This is when she fell in love with jazz and lyrical and put her pointe shoes down for awhile. She auditioned for Woodbridge's Dance Team and made it. Liz was coached by Becky Walsh and Dennis Caspary. Dennis is now the owner of Countdown dance competition and 2 Days in OC dance convention. While training with Becky and Dennis, they encouraged Liz to audition for Orange Coast College Dance Team. She did, and was one of the 13 selected out of the thousands who auditioned. She was a member of the 2002 and 2003 Orange Coast College National Award Winning Dance Team. Liz was coached by Dan Sapp, well known choreographer/coach and championship title leader. He has won countless first place overall victories on the college and high school level. For decades, he has consecutively won 1st place at USA and USA Nationals. In 2002 and 2003, Liz and her dance team won 1st place at UDA’s Nationals in Florida and 1st place at USA Nationals in Las Vegas; for which she appeared on a ESPN dance special. After OCC, Liz began to shift her focus to school and moved to San Diego. She started taking academic classes and dancing at Palomar Community College, under the direction of Molly Faulkner (PHD) and Steven Hook from American Ballet Theatre (ABT). She received her AA degree from Palomar and transferred to University of Irvine (UCI) for dance and then to Cal State San Marcos, where she received her BA in Sociology and Dance. In the last decade, Liz has been teaching all around the San Diego, Riverside, and Orange County area at various studios such as San Marcos Ballet School, New West Ballet School, Georgia’s, Cast Academy of Dance, Bowen-Hayes School of the Arts, Limitless Dance, Empire Dance Productions, Diane’s Dance Co, and Dance Spectrum. Liz teaches mostly ballet and pointe but also lyrical, jazz, technique, special needs and workout / conditioning. Her students range between the ages of 3 to Adult, and from beginning to advanced levels. Liz choreographs lyrical/ jazz/ ballet including pointe / productions/ solos & duets competition dance routines. Liz’s students are very successful and some have become professionals in the dance industry. Her students receive top level scoring and have placed in the top 10 at competitions such as Creation Dance, Rainbow, Spotlight, Countdown and KAR. Some of her most advanced students, whom she has trained, have won 1st overalls at regional Dance Competitions for solos. For the past 10 years, Liz teaches unique classes that are close to her heart including special needs classes and dance classes for troubled teens in various group homes throughout riverside county. The special needs students range in age from 3 to 45 and the group home kids are 12 to 17. These classes are rewarding experiencing for the students, Liz, and everyone involved. Liz was also the owner of Limitless Dance Studio, Inc. a non-profit dance studio. It opened on July of 2011 and closed in June 2015. Limitless Dance Studio was a great studio that helped teach kids how to dance who otherwise wouldn't have been able to. Now, Liz teaches at various studios and does private lessons and dance classes at her house in the dance studio she built in 2015!
Ballet, Tap, Mini Hip-Hop, Jazz & SDE Choreograqpher
Kelly trained at Dance Spectrum for eight years and has been on the teaching staff since 2007. She has competed at various dance adjudications and performed throughout Southern California as a member of the SDE. She has performed in many Dance Spectrum productions and performed the roles of Fairy Godmother (Sleeping Beauty) and the Dew Drop Fairy (Nutcracker). She is a graduate of Cal State San Bernardino and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications. Kelly is eager to begin her teacher credential program and become a school teacher in the near future while still teaching at Dance Spectrum in the evenings. Along with her love of dance she also has a passion for video production and editing and has helped produce the Dance Spectrum production videos for the last three years. She enjoys sharing her love of dance and the arts with all of her students.
Acro/Tumbling, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop Teacher &
Julia trained at Dance Spectrum for over 12 years. She has performed and competed as a member of Spectrum Dance Ensemble and was a member of the Beaumont High School Cheer Squad. Her fun and creative choreography has won top awards at multiple dance competitions.
Having trained in Ballet in St. Louis, Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, and Los Angeles, California, Jackie is excited to share her well varied teaching style with our Beginning/Intermediate and Adult students. She has performed with the Minnesota Ballet and in Musical Theater productions. Jackie holds 3 degrees: B.S in Environmental Sciences (Art Interior Design Specialty), M.S in Psychiatric Nursing, and a B.S in General Nursing. She enjoys her position as a Substitute teacher in the Beaumont Unified School District and enjoys sharing her passion for dance with her students at Dance Spectrum.
Rhonda has been a dance professional for over 30 years. She was one of the youngest, at the time, to receive her dance instructor's accreditations from the Dance Educators of America Association which accredits teachers, choreographers, and professional dancers throughout the U.S.A. She has taught and performed professionally in Hawaiian, Polynesian, Ballet, Tap, Jazz and founded her own dance performing troupes. She has directed and choreographed many stage shows through the years. Rhonda owned her own dance studio in Beaumont (Rhonda and Co.) and she is thrilled to return to a studio setting in which she can share her love of dance with others.
Ballet, Tap & Jazz Teacher
Alyse was a student at Dance Spectrum for 12 years. She currently attends Mount San Jacinto College where she is a Liberal Arts Major and has taken dance classes to augment her training. She has taught at Dance Spectrum since 2016 and she hopes to continue until she transfers to Cal State University Northridge where she will obtain her teaching credential and minor in dance. During her time as a member of Spectrum Dance Ensemble, she has performed in competitions and attended conventions such as Rainbow Dance Competition, Professional Dance Network (PDN), and Jump (where she won a scholarship to attend the Dancer Palooza Convention). Alyse has a giving spirit and has served as a volunteer at New Creation Church for over 3 years and has helped at Calvary Christian School's holiday events, as well as at Beaumont High School's Catering class.
Allyson Leilani (Ms. Ally) Carter has been dancing for 13 years. She started studying Hip-Hop at first and quickly developed a passion for all genres of dance. She has a great passion for music, performance technique, and fluidity in movement. Ally is also a passionate student of all dance. She travels to master classes and conventions to further her training. Ms. Ally wants to give her students the same love for the stage, theater, competition and learning that has influenced her life for the better. She says that her students inspire her to be a better teacher, choreographer, and dancer and person. She greatly values the dedication, love, kindness, and hard work that her students show her.
Sarah has been dancing with Dance Spectrum for seven years and has been a member of SDE for four years. She attended Inland Pacific Ballet's Summer Ballet Intensive in the summer of 2017. She performed as a dancer in the dance numbers choreographed by Inland Pacific Ballet for the production of "Tarzan" at the Redlands Bowl in the summer of 2017 as well. More recently Sarah acted, sang, and danced in the musical production of "Simeon's Story" at Freedom in Christ Church in Beaumont. She plans to attend Cal State Fullerton as a dance major and pursue a career as a dance teacher and choreographer.
Eliza has trained at Dance Spectrum for 14 years. Since the beginning of her training, she has always wanted to become a teacher. For the last 5 years, Eliza has trained to become a student teacher at Dance Spectrum. This year she is so excited to have joined the Dance Spectrum staff. In the near future, Eliza plans to attend UC Riverside to obtain her teaching credential and become an elementary school teacher.
Julia Ward started her training at Dance Spectrum in 2012 at the age of 10. Throughout the years, she has taken many classes in various genres of dance including jazz, ballet, pointe, tap, musical theater, and lyrical, as well as performed and competed with Spectrum Dance Ensemble. Julia has performed in studio productions such as “Alice in Wonderland” as The Queen of Hearts, and “The Nutcracker” as the Dew Drop Fairy. Similarly, she has received scholarships from dance conventions like KAR Dance, The Pulse, NUVO, Radix, and Professional Dance Network, as well as top overall awards for her solos at competitions. Aside from the studio, Julia has performed and choreographed numerous shows for Yucaipa Little Theater. Her passion is performing and making people happy through her love of dance. After graduating from High School, she will be continuing her career in dance as a dance major at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas!
Allison has trained at Dance Spectrum since 2005 and has been a member of Spectrum Dance Ensemble for several seasons. She attended the Summer Intensive at Inland Pacific Ballet in 2017 and performed at the Redlands Bowl in the production of Tarzan. Upon graduating from High School, she plans to pursue her dreams and obtain a B.F.A. in dance and perform in a ballet or contemporary company.
